episode iv:
Film music theory sessions
This is a unique approach to exploring the application of common music theory practices.

Each 1 hour session begins with a brief description of the archetype associated with the character or situation being examined. Correlations between the characteristics of the archetype and the musical elements forming the theme will first be established. This is followed by a focus on that particular musical theme or motif, explaining, analyzing, and demonstrating each occurrence and transformation, from a music theory standpoint, of the theme or motif throughout the film. In this way, students see first hand how music theory supports a story arc throughout an entire film.
